Nationally-
respected architectural designer and project manager Alex Dipp joins BJSA.

Mr. Dipp has more than 30 years experience in architectural design, design development, planning, construction and project management and planning.   He also has extensive executive-level experience in administration, budgeting and marketing.

As Project Design Manager/Director for the nationally renowned Historic Restorations Inc. (HRI) for 17 years, Mr. Dipp oversaw some of the most innovative and widely praised historic renovation projects in New Orleans. Among the most notable projects under Mr. Dipp’s direction were the $7.9 million Federal Fiber Mills Apartments, a 130-unit development conversion of an historic warehouse; the 297-unit Cotton Mill Apartments; the 243-room Chateau Sonesta Hotel, converted from the original D.H. Holmes department store on New Orleans famed Canal Street; The St. Mary’s Apartments, a $7.8 million, 105-unit development (originally a warehouse)

that was eventually redeveloped as a 231-room suites hotel at a cost of $12 million. Previously, Mr. Dipp served as project designer/production, project architect and/or construction document specialist for such firms as S. Stewart Farnet A.I.A Architects and Associates (1982-1985), Bland, Lemoyne and Shine Architects and Urban Planners and Fairfield and Dubois Architects, both in Canada. In addition, he has served as head of his own two architectural firms, Alejandro Dipp and Associates of Nicaragua and IONICA Preservation Development, the latter of which remains active in New Orleans.

A member in good standing of the A.I.A., Mr. Dipp has published several professional articles for industry publications such as Seismic Structural Design and Hydrology and Problems in Urban Design, among others. He has also been honored by his industry peers with several awards for outstanding performance.  Mr. Dipp earned his Bachelor’s of Science Architecture - Universite de Montreal, 1968 and an M.B.A. from the Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
