Built in the early 1900s, this classic, Victorian-style New Orleans structure once housed an old-fashioned apothecary/drugstore downstairs while the second floor served as a residence for the business' proprietors.  Located in the heart of New Orleans Uptown/Central City, the building was used as a photography studio and an advertising agency, among other businesses over the years. In 1989, Byron Stewart purchased the building as a residence for his young family and as a place of business for his new architecture firm.

After completing an extensive renovation in the mid- 1990s, Mr. Stewart leased the building to an advertising firm.  In early 2002, after the agency's lease expired, Stewart moved BJSA back to the

building.  Featuring hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings and an abundance of natural light from numerous large windows, the BJSA headquarters at Marengo and Liberty Streets is an ideal work place for the firm's creative  team and a stunning showcase BJSA's well-known attention to detail and respect for New Orleans' rich architectural traditions.

The return to 2300 Marengo Street represents a kind of "coming home" for Stewart.  He grew up right around the corner from what was then a drugstore.  He remembers, "I have a lot of memories associated with this building and this neighborhood.  This represents the fulfillment of my childhood dream to become an architect."
